Pulp Studio expands its DermaGlass® offering to include DermaAR™, a Matte Finish Option for Back Painted or Graphic Interlayers Where Weight and Durability are Key Factors

Pulp Studio, the leading designer and manufacturer of technically superior decorative glass, expands its proprietary DermaGlass® collection with DermaAR™, an acid etched, ultra-thin architectural material that is highly durable, lightweight and resilient for both exterior facades and interior applications.

DermaAR, with a slim thickness of 1.3mm is a low iron glass that is offered in sizes up to 58” x 118”.  It is an exceptionally tough, flexible, lightweight, scratch-resistant material which can be used with Pulp Studio’s Pintura, a water-based back-painted, or laminated with printed graphic interlayer. This makes it a highly resilient and extremely versatile material for both architectural and elevator cab applications.

“DermaGlass fills a need in the decorative and technical architectural glass market with an ultra-thin, highly durable surface that can be designed, bent and technically manipulated to meet aesthetic and performance requirements,” states Lynda Lax, president of Pulp Studio. “As we found more creative uses for this product, we recognized the need for multiple surface options.  Now, after many years of research and development, we can deliver a highly durable product with minimal weight and a beautiful matte finish with this new DermaAR offering.”

Using an ion-exchange process, the ultra-thin profile that DermaGlass and DermaAR offers designers multiple options for design applications such as bent glass column surrounds or customized, decorative shapes while addressing performance needs for surface strength.  DermaAR, with an acid etched surface, offers a smooth, matte surface that minimizes glare. DermaGlass and DermaAR meet the following U.S. standards for indoor use.

  • DermaAR can be laminated or laminated to a honeycomb core for safety and ease of installation
